The Christmas Tag 2013

Hello Everyone!

Are you excited for Christmas? I'm feeling positively Scrooge-like as it's the 21st of December (where did the year go) and I haven't done any Christmas themes posts. So when I saw this post on Alice's lovely blog I thought I'd get on board. The tag was created by the amazing Georgina so well done and credit to you!

1. Do you prefer a real Christmas tree or synthetic?
I always used to have a real tree when I was little and I love them! I just think they look nicer and get everyone into the Christmas spirit, I love the smell of them too! However I think that there are some lovely synthetic trees around and the pines are slightly annoying!

2. You're in a coffee shop, it's December, what do you pick?
I don't really like coffee or go into coffee shops very often so I'm not really sure what's available at Christmas time but I love hot chocolate so I'd go for a big hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows!
3. What's your favourite colour scheme for decorating the tree?
I love the multi-coloured look personally, but my tree is based on reds and gold and I love it :)

4. Giving or receiving?
The look on someone's face when you give them a present is a priceless feeling so I'd definitely go for giving! I also love to shop around and find people's presents! But obviously, anyone who says they don't like opening presents is lying!

5. To mince pie or not to?
Is this even a question?! To every time!

6. What's your traditional sunday lunch?
Generally we go for the whole hog. Turkey, ham, pigs in blankets, brussel sprouts, stuffing, roast potatoes etc.

7. Christmas day fashion
Generally I make an effort on Christmas day, I would normally wear a dress and heels :)

8. What's your favourite Christmas song?
It's got to be Fairy-tale of New York! "...And the bells are ringing out for Christmas Day..."

9. What's your favourite Christmas film?
Now this is a tough one. Its a close call between Elf and Love Actually, I love Polar express too! I'd probably say Elf though, I've seen it about a thousand times and it never gets old!

10. Open Presents before or after lunch?
I know I'm answering this with a question, but, can anybody wait until AFTER lunch to open any presents?! But seriously, Generally I will open my stocking as soon as I wake up, then all the presents from my Mum throughout the morning and have my presents from family after lunch when we see them :)

I would like to tag anybody who is reading this and hasn't yet done this post!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU AND I HOPE YOU HAVE AN AMAZING CHRISTMAS AND GET EVERYTHING YOU WANTED :)

Hair Texturising Sprays: Loreal Vs. V05

Hello,

Today I am going to be doing a comparison of V05's Dry Backcombing Spray and L'Oreal's #TXT Volume Supersizing Spray.

First up, V05's Dry backcombing Spray:

V05 Plump it Up Dry Backcomb Spray - £3.79 here

I'm not sure how this spray works, but it is amazing. It really makes your hair look as though you've backcombed it without the damage or the time! I don't generally backcomb my hair on top as I think it looks a little bit like I've just got out of bed so I will generally pick up the top layer and backcomb underneath to give volume on top, so this is what I do with this spray. It lasts well and it does exactly what it says on the tin. It also smells quite nice, sort of fruity.

L'Oreal Studio Line #TXT Texturizing Spray - £3.79

This spray is also really good, and instantly adds texture to my hair, however rather than making it look backcombed this one just adds texture. I can use this spray anywhere on my hair and, unlike with the V05 one, I don't need to separate my hair first. This one also smells nice, however its more like the smell of a salt spray.

Now for the comparison:

Both of the sprays are the same price for the same amount (200ml) and I like the way both of them work, in different ways.

Although the L'Oreal spray highlights its 'Matt Finish' I think both sprays achieve this. The V05 spray comes out of the can as more of an aerosol, like a body spray or deodorant would whereas the L'Oreal spray is more like a wetter spray, but it doesn't leave any wetness on your hair.

I like both of these texturing sprays and they both work really well, however overall for daily use I think I prefer the L'Oreal #TXT spray, even though the V05 spray gives more volume as its easier to use and I don't want my hair to have too much volume haha.

Have you tried either of these? Which one is your favourite?

Bye!

My Favourite Everyday Scent: Soap & Glory Mist you Madly

Hello!

Today I'm going to be sharing with you my favourite everyday scent which is Soap and Glory's 'Mist you Madly'. I would first like to take a moment to appreciate the name of this product. The people who think of the names for Soap and Glory products has some serious imagination.

Soap and Glory Mist you Madly - £3.50 here

I'm not even going to try and explain the scent because im rubbish at describing things but Soap and Glory describe it as : 'flirty, floral, fragrant body spray featuring notes of bergamot and blackcurrant, magnolia, freesia, vanilla and musk.'

Its quite a sweet smell but without being too overpowering or sickly and its perfect for everyday. It's not a very heavy smell either which I like.

It is called a 'body spray' however when I think of body spray I think of an aerosol which this isn't, so I'd say its a cross between  a perfume and body spray.

I love this scent and if you haven't already you should definitely go and buy it!

What's your favourite perfume?

Bye!

Review: Seventeen Phwoarr Paint Concealer

Hello!

If you have read a few of my posts, you'll know that I get really bad dark under eye circles, not due to lack of sleep or stress, I just get them, so I'm forever searching for a good concealer. I came across this 'Phwoarr Paint' concealer from Seventeen and couldn't resist.

Seventeen Phwoarr Paint Concealer in Fair - £5.49 here

(sorry for the awful state of this product, I forgot to take pictures when I first bought it before using it!)

What attracted me to this concealer is the fact that its described as 'heavy duty' and that it's specifically made for under eyes. I've tried heavy concealers under my eyes before that aren't specifically made for that area and it doesn't end well!

It is a very thick paste formula so if your dark circles aren't particularly bad then you definitely wouldn't need this but for me it's perfect, teamed with other things.

The concealer lasts well, it does fade throughout the day but it stays quite well when I'm at school. You only need a tiny bit for so much coverage and it really does work at covering my dark circles, however I prefer to still use a brightening concealer over the top, mainly because I am quite conscious about my dark circles.

The compact is really sturdy and it also has a little mirror, making it lovely for travelling and re-applying throughout the day!

There are only a couple of faults I can find with this concealer, and one of them is the colour range. Now this isn't a problem for me, as I have quite pale skin and I find that the shade 'fair' is perfect however it is only available in the shades fair and medium, meaning that there isn't any available for any darker skin tones which is very annoying and I think Seventeen should consider bringing out more shades! The other small issue I have is that if you put too much of this on it goes slightly pink and builds up so you should take caution with how much you're applying.

Overall, I really like this concealer and its perfect for anyone with bad dark circles or if you're particularly tired on a day! I would definitely re purchase this!

What is your favourite concealer for your undereyes?

Bye!

Review: MUA Heaven and Earth Palette

Hey,

Today I am going to be reviewing this eyeshadow palette from MUA: Heaven and Earth.

MUA Heaven and Earth - £4 here

The palette contains a good selection of natural shades including coppers, champagnes and browns. All of the colours have a slight shimmer to them and there are one or two with slightly bigger glitter pieces in them.

All of the eyeshadows are so pigmented and the palette is only £4!

They last really well and the only thing I can fault about the palette is that it doesn't have a mirror, but what can you expect for £4?!

I'm so impressed with this palette and I hope to get some other MUA palettes including the Matte one and the Undressed palettes.

Do you have any amazing palettes? If so, what are they?

Review: Maybelline Brow Drama

Hello,

How is everybody? I've finally broken up from school for Christmas so I should be able to finally do some more posts. Today I am going to be doing a review of the Maybelline Brow Drama brow mascara, which I got as an early Christmas present from one of my friends :)

Maybelline Brow Drama - £4.99 here

Personally, I don't ever really heavily fill in my eyebrows as I don't think I need to, mainly because my hair isn't darker than my eyebrows however I do lightly fill them in with a pencil that is the same colour (Maybelline Master Shape in Soft Brown). That is until I received this brow mascara.

I have it in the colour dark blonde, which I believe is the lightest colour and it's perfect! It matches my eyebrows exactly and I love the look it gives.

If you are the type of person that fully fills in your eyebrows with a powder or pencil then this probably isn't the thing for you but if you like your eyebrows to look natural then this is what you need! It gives my eyebrows a nice shape and slightly fills them in without making them look like blocks of colour.

Another thing which I love about this is that it stays in all day and keeps the shape of my eyebrows, so it sort of works as a wax and colour without the hassle.

One small downside is that, like most mascaras, when you pull the brush out a clump can form on the end which will transfer into your eyebrows if not wiped off.

This product is also very reasonably priced for only £4.99 you get 12ml of product!

Overall, this product has become my new eyebrow staple and I will continue to use it for a long time, and you should definitely invest in it.

Bye!

Current Beauty Favourites

Hello :)

Today I'm going to be sharing with you my current beauty favourites, as I've been loving quite a few new things lately :)

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in Ivory

I've been using this foundation quite a lot lately, its good coverage, about medium I'd say and it has a lovely finish. I ordered this off of fragrance direct which is why this is a different bottle to the ones in Boots/ Superdrug but I'm not really sure if the actual foundation is different or not :/

Seventeen Phwoarr Paint in Fair

I'm really impressed with this concealer, I have inherited really bad dark circles so I'm constantly on the hunt for a good concealer which doesn't look really cakey and I definitely think I've found a gem in this one. If you don't have very dark circles I don't think this concealer would really be necessary for you but I have really been loving this and I will definitely re-purchase this many times!

L'Oreal Le Touche Magique Concealer in Natural Beige

Because I'm so conscious about my dark circles, I like to put an illuminating concealer over the top of the seventeen one and I've recently been using this one from L'Oreal because I really like the look it gives, it adds coverage and brightens my eyes without looking cakey at all.

Bourjois UNE Skin Glow Pencil

Sticking with brightening the eyes, I've recently been putting this nude pencil into my waterline to brighten and open my eyes. I got this off of Fragrance Direct, I'm not exactly sure if it's meant to be a concealer pencil or what its meant to be but its quite soft and perfect for using in the waterline.

MUA Blush Perfection Cream Blush in Blossom

I've really liked using this cream blusher from MUA lately, its a lovely natural pink colour and can easily be applied using my fingers, it lasts well and I really like the colour on my cheeks.

Sleek Contour Kit in Light

Now for the most exciting thing in this post by far. YAY, I finally got the ridiculously raved about Sleek contour kit, and it has not disappointed.

V05 Plump it up Dry Backcomb Spray

Lastly, is this dry backcombing spray, I had my eye on this for a while and I finally picked it up a little while ago, and I'm so glad I did. I'm not really sure how it works but it is amazing, it literally backcombs your hair without damaging it at all like backcombing it with a brush or a comb would.

So they are my current beauty favourites, what have you been liking lately?

Winter Beauty Essentials

Hello,

I'd firstly like to apologise for not posting in absolutely AGES, I've been really really busy with school and other things lately and I haven't had the time to sit down and  take photos, plan and write a post, so thank you for being patient.

Now onto the post. As it's getting colder and colder outside, I thought I'd do a post telling you my beauty essentials for wintertime.

Moisturiser:

Good Things Face the Day Moisturiser - £7.99 here

I know that moisturiser is a product that is used all year round, but in winter I think it is more important to moisturise, especially if you are like me and the cold weather really dries out your face.

Hand Cream

Norwegian Formula Concentrated Hand Cream - £3.85 here

As well as drying out my face, cold weather also makes my hands very dry, thanks for that, winter. So hand cream is really essential to carry around and I really like this one, it doesn't smell amazing but I find sometimes heavily perfumed hand creams don't really do anything for my dry skin.

Lip Balm:

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip balm Tin - £3.69 here

That's right, my lips also get really chapped in winter so I'm constantly putting lip balm on too. This one is minty and I really love it, I find that only natural lip balms do anything for my lips in terms of moisturising them especially in winter.

 Green Corrector:

Natural Collection Green Corrector Stick - £1.99 here

Firstly I'm sorry for the horrible state of this product, I'm not really sure why, or if it's just me, but I get really red cheeks in winter so I reached straight for this and it really does work at correcting the redness so an essential for me.

Red Lipstick:

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in 500 Diva Red - £6.49 here

I think that in winter red lipstick is definitely a staple, and really suits this time of year. I got this one before the moisture renew range was re-formulated and re-packaged but the same red colour is still available :).

Black Nail Polish:

Bourjois So Laque Nail Polish in Noir de Chine - £5.99 here

Call me a goth, but I think that dark nail polishes look really nice, especially in winter.

So that's my winter essentials, what are your winter beauty essentials?

Fashion wish list #2

Hey,

Before I start this post I'd like to apologise that I haven't posted in such a long time, I had a really important English controlled assessment and I'm actually on half term at the moment -yay for my school having 2 weeks off instead of 1- and although this should give me more time to blog more, I've been so busy! And when I did get some time, my laptop completely died. Anyway, so now I am writing this on my iPad so I don't really know how it'll go but I'll try my best πŸ˜„

Onto the wishlist:

(Top left) Tall Black Coated Disco Pants - New Look - £22.99

Yes, that's right, you have found somebody who does not yet own a pair of disco pants *hangs head in shame*. But I really do want a pair and eventually I will take the plunge and buy em, however I do not have £70 to spend on an original pair so I thought the new look cop offs would do nicely. I also went for the tall ones as I find that I have a problem with the length of the legs in new look trousers.

(Top right) Combined Checkered T-shirt with Collar - Zara - £19.99

I really like this tartan t shirt, if you hadn't noticed that tartan is in at the moment then I don't know where you have been and I think this collared top of perfect for autumn time, especially as it is quite dark but with some red which I always see as a really autumnal colour

(Bottom Left) Floral Print Sweatshirt - Zara - £25.99

If there's one thing I love about autumn it's wearing jumpers like this (or sweaters, sweatshirts, I never really know what to call them) I just think they are super comfy and can be really casual or more dressed up and they are warm for if it's a little bit cold but not too hot because you never know what the weather will be like in autumn! I really love the floral pattern on this one in particular.

(Bottom Right) You Can't Sit With Us T-Shirt Mean Girls - EBay - £6.99

I found this tshirt on a blog where the blogger had written "and if you don't understand it, when then you're just as dumb as Karen" which made me smile but unfortunately I cannot remember which blog it
was.

(Top Left) Black Tartan Cap Sleeve Shift Dress - New Look - £22.99

I don't own any dresses in this style but I do really like it and I think that the tartan print is very different and suits the style of the dress, I love this!

(Top Right) Cut Out Chunky Biker Shoes - EBay - £24.99

I really love cut out boots and I've wanted a pair for a while but I did originally have my eye on a pair with a bigger heel which I love too but then I started thinking that I don't actually have a pair of not high heeled ankle boots - although I'm not sure id use the word flat to describe these - and I know that I would get much more opportunity to wear lower heeled ones which is why these are in my wishlist rather than higher ones.

(Bottom Left) PVC Clear Raincoat - EBay - £14.50

I love that you can still see any outfit through these raincoats and the whole idea of it is amazing I think

(Bottom Right) Knitted Marbel Woven Jumper - Topshop - £38

Yet another thing I love to wear in the colder months, knitted jumpers. I like that this one has contrasted sleeves to the middle and the pattern is so colourful and mesmerising

(Top Left) Moto Bleach Denim Dungarees - Topshop - £18 (in sale) £38 (not in sale)

These May look somewhat summery for this time of year but I think with tights and a long coat these will look lovely Even on colder days πŸ˜€

(Top Right) 2 Pack Burgundy and Monochrome Floral Peplum Tops - New Look - £17.99

I love peplum tops especially with leggings I think think they are really easy to wear and can be smart or casual depending on how you dress them up and I think both of these are perfect for autumn

(Bottom Left) Annie Oversized Vintage Jumper - Boohoo - £15

Another knitted jumper, i love being comfy and this jumper looks so cosy and warm and I also really like the colour of it πŸ˜€

(Bottom Right) Nike Blazer Mid Trainers - Nike - £70

Whilst I am aware that I will probably never get these shoes because they are extremely overpriced I thought I should include them as I do really like them and they look really comfortable And like they would go with nearly everything πŸ˜€

So that's it for my fashion wishlist, I hope you liked it πŸ˜€

My Most Used Makeup Collection & Storage

Hey :)

So today I am going to be showing you how I store my 'everyday' makeup. Obviously I do not use all of this makeup everyday (or I'd be CAKED!) but this is just what I use most then I have a big drawer which I keep everything else in. I am aware that I don't have that much makeup compared to many people but I like what I have and to me it's a big collection!

Sorry for the rather cluttered looking drawers!

Just incase you were wondering, I don't keep a bottle of Jack Daniels by my bed ;) No, that is a cute little bottle which I keep hair grips in, also here is a little Love ETC Solid Perfume from Body Shop, a tiny perfume from Next, a couple of Ecotools brushed and some really random brushed :)

Let's just a take a minute for possibly the coolest makeup brush pot in the world! It is made from this old china cheese pot thing and I decorated it with PVA glue and Marvel wrapping paper from primark :) I have a range of random brushes, the black ones are from a set I got on Amazon for about £6-8, the stippling brush is from Ebay and was around £2, the comb is from Body Shop, Backcombing Brush from Primark, Ecotools Foundation Brush, Random Foundation Brush

This is the box I keep foundations, mascaras, concealers and things which wont fit in the little drawers underneath in! The box is a cardboard one from Hobby Craft I think covered in a really cool New York Wallpaper which I got a sample of from Homebase :)

So here's what I keep in that box:

Garnier Ambre Solaire Face and Neck Sun cream
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation
Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation
Revlon Colorstay Foundation
Collection Cover and Go Foundation
Body Shop Matte It Primer

I love keeping makeup items in little tealight holders, I just think its a great way to store them, they look nice and don't take up too much space, everything is also really easy to find which it can't always be if they are lying down.
This is where I keep my concealers, because I'm a slight concealer freak (dark circles, need I say more!) and I also have an eye primer in there too :)
In here there is:
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Clinique Airbrush Concealer
NYC Smooth Skin Concealer
Maybelline Mineral Concealer
L'Oreal True Match Concealer
Vivo Radiant Boost Highlighter
W7 Eye Primer

Another tealight holder :)
In this one I keep mascaras, eyeliners and an eyebrow pencil:
L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara
2True Flash Eyes Mascara
Collection 2000 Skylash Mascara
L'Oreal Superliner Sponge Tipped Eyeliner
Primark Liquid Eyeliner
Maybelline Master Shape Brow Pencil

I also keep my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and my 2True All natural Matte Bronzer in here because they wont fit in the drawers :)

Lastly, I keep My eyelash curlers from Primark in there, Vivo Eyeshadow Palette in Dreamy and Ebay Concealer Palette

Now onto the cute little drawers from Poundland! As soon as I saw them, I loved them so much, they are SO cute and perfect for storing makeup and they were only £1!!!

In the top drawer, I keep highlighters,  Eyeshadows and lipsticks/balms :)

Highlighters:

Calvin Klein Crème Eyeshadow in Bare Silk (Browbone Highlighting)
Chit Chat Highlighter
Clinique Up lighting Illuminator

Eyeshadows:

Tesco Eyeshadow in Shade 2
Constance Carroll Eyeshadow in Taupe (Left) Beige (Right)
NYC Metro Quartet in Best of Broadway

Lipsticks/Balms/Liner:

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in Iced Caramel
Collection Lasting Perfection Lipstick in Satin Bow
Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch (Left) and Peach Kiss (Right)
Revlon Lip liner

Onto the bottom drawer where I keep blusher, bronzer and powder

MUA Blusher in Cupcake
Rimmel Mono Blushers in Smoked Oyster (Left) and Santa Rose (Right)
MUA Blush Perfection Cream Blusher in Dolly

W7 The Bronzer Matte Compact

Constance Carroll Silk Finishing Powder

So that is my collection of makeup which I use most and keep on top of my drawers :)

Here is a few random pictures of inside my makeup drawer:

Is there anything you'd like reviewing/ a look done with?
